Half for Halloween (And Giveaway Winner)
This weekend is the Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles Halloween Half Marathon! All the cool guys and ghouls will be running in costume from L.A. Live, down to the Coliseum, back up past the start/finish line (by the time I get there, other people are already finishing), then 4 miles out somewhere to a bridge you run and up down, and then back to L.A. Live.
This will be my 3rd running of this event. See my past write ups:
- Inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles 2010 – When it started in Griffith Park
- Video of Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles 2011 – When I became a Rock Star
- Preparing for a RNR half: Part 1 (Basic details to know)
- Preparing for a RNR half: Part 2 (How I remember the course)
Running in costumes can be hilarious, although it may hinder your ability to PR, depending on how elaborate you want to go. I’ve been struggling with this idea, going back and forth between wanting to dress up in a great costume for RNR LA and also wanting to see if I can get a 3rd half marathon PR for 2012…. This is my last road race this year (I have my BHAG and I just signed up for the awesome inaugural Paramount Ranch Trail 10k this morning).
This is why I’ve settled on my Hula Girl costume. A flower in my hair, a Hawaiinized sports bra, and a “grass” sparkle skirt (with another skirt underneath). Simple. Maybe a lei. Maybe not. I can easily run in this without feeling overwhelmed. It’s likely to be a hot day, anyway. The Team Sparkle skirt is what really makes the costume.
Hmm…Hawaii, sparkle. That reminds me of something. OH YEAH…who won the Team Sparkle/Island Boost giveaway?!
THE WINNER IS: NIKI WHITNEY
Congratulations! Contact me by the end of the day on Thursday, October 25th, with your name and mailing address and the skirt color of your choice! If I don’t hear from you, I’ll have to pick another winner. Sorry.
