Run. Recover. Repeat.

It’s my new mantra. It’s replacing, “Just keep running”.

It’s been about a week since I sent in my registration for the OTHTC High Desert 50k (aka BHAG) and started the Whole Life Challenge (WLC). For all the thought and worry I put in this week, trying to make sure my different goals are balancing out, Irony decided to make things really easy for me, as if to say, “You have nothing to complain about.”

  1. TWO CrossFit WODs incorporated lots of running. 2 miles on Monday and another 2.5 on Wednesday. Midweek training mileage was not hard to fit in this week.
  2. One of the WODs worked really well as a speed training exercise, giving me a nice boost of confidence going forward to continue working on that. Speed.
  3. My plans for camping out prior to volunteering at the Leona Valley Trail Races (Sept 29th) are working out, allowing me to do 14 miles on trails AT ALTITUDE! This is big for a beach bunny like me.

PS. Recently I heard there were a few spots left for Leona. Get $20 off with code: Tiffany232

All these positive things lift my spirits. I’m still scared of the goals I’ve picked for myself. However, I’m feeling confident as ever that I can do this, and do it well. I’m always thinking about my next run with excitement at this point.

Run. Recover. Repeat. This is what I’m focusing on…with special emphasis on the “Recover” part. I’m down 2 lbs this week. Not a problem, but hopefully not a trend. I am happy with my weight and do not want to lose muscle. So, various forms of WLC compliant protein (Spirulina, nuts, eggs, meat, fish) are getting a lot more love than they used too in my diet.

Good sleep has never been easy for me to come by. I am working on this to find a good solution, and so far this week haven’t woken up feeling exhausted. However, I know I don’t sleep all the way through the night.

I am going to try really hard to keep Friday as a complete rest day from CrossFit AND ultra training. If I do anything it’ll be 10 minutes of active recovery (maybe some jump roping or going for a nice walk).

Exciting things coming up:
