Day 1. The WOD.

The Whole Life Challenge started today. I headed to my box at 8:30 AM to get measured and warmed up before our preliminary workout.

I don’t mind sharing my measurements:

  • Right & Left Bicep: 11″
  • Waist: 27″
  • Hips: 37″
  • Right & Left Thigh: 18″

A lot of people have one arm or leg that is larger than the other. Which is totally natural. But my love for symmetry makes me secretly glad that I’m even.

So then we got to our workout.

Elena was my partner. We’ve worked out together before and I think she’s the bees knees. Very positive. Very strong. Also very tall. She did the workout first and I counted her reps for her. This was what we had to do:

I used a 24lb KB instead of the prescribed 35lb because that it was I have been using during regular WODs and I didn’t want to switch it up today. So, I was able to do 7 reps and get through the next set of KB Swings & 6 burpees. I’m not sure how, but that makes my workout score 111.

I was SO gassed during this workout. I had chalked the KBs and then went down to do burpees, causing myself to inhale the chalk. A few minutes in my mouth and nose were so dry they were burning a bit. During my run I would try to conjure up some saliva so my tongue didn’t feel like it was going to get stuck in my throat. As soon as I finished, I promptly laid down.

Yup.

I am thrilled that Day 1 is nearly in the books. I’m going to have my fish oil, do some stretching, and then hit the pillow, HARD!

Expectations? At the end of the 8 weeks, I would like to say that I’ve stuck with the diet rules pretty consistently. I do expect to lose points in the challenge here and there. In fact, I know I will because I have some products to review that include ingredients on the “No” list. As far as body composition, I’m happy with my body so I’m not really looking to lose inches or weight. I wouldn’t mind leaning up and building some more muscle. My biggest expectation comes in performance. I want to be able to increase my reps in the WLC workout. Maybe just by 1 full rep. My mega fit coach, Melissa, did 9+ reps today, and she was using the heavier weight! Amazeballs.
